Portrait Advice
GROUP & FAMILY PHOTOS
Everybody should generally dress to a similar style, if one
person wears a suit, another shouldn’t wear ripped jeans and a heavy metal t-shirt.
You should also try to wear similar colours or shades. You may, however, wish to dress differently for the contrast, different clothing will highlight the different personality's of the people involved. This is fine, your
portrait is whatever you want it to be.
CLOTHING & COLOURS
Bright colours work great on children, but not so well
with adults. Dark colours have a slimming effect, light clothing can exaggerate size. Long sleeves tend to work
best, but most importantly, wear what you feel comfortable in, that’s what
matters most! Bring along a few different outfits to vary the style,
relaxed & casual, formal & dressy. We have a small changing room, and you can make as many wardrobes changes as time permits.
Please be aware of the small details, remove watches or jewellery you don’t want in the photos, bring a comb, have a shave, look at yourself in the mirror and consider how you want to look in the photos. You're welcome to bring along make-up, hair
aqccessories, etc. to change your look and style during the shoot.
PREGNANCY PHOTOS
For photos exposing the bump, please do not wear tight clothing or
underwear that may leave marks on any areas of the body that may be photographed.
BABY’S & TODDLER’S
Book your photography session for a time when your baby
will be happiest. Bring along plenty of outfits in various colours and styles, and dress them in the studio to avoid any little accidents on route. Bring some of baby's favourite toys, or any other props you think may work well.
Music can often get little ones smiling, bring along any music they like, or at least practice your lyrics for the
singalong. If children have any small scratches or bruises,
I'll attempt to remove these digitally,
free of charge. If bribery works well, feel free to bring treats to
persuade your youngsters to cooperate, but PLEASE give these at the end of the shoot as a reward, not during the photos. Once little 'Tommy' has his hands on the
chocolate bar, you aren't going to persaude him to rejoin the photo shoot until it's all eaten, and this can prove
time consuming and messy.
ENGAGEMENT
PORTRAITS
Please don't forget your engagement ring, and
both dress in similar colours and styles.
BOUDOIR
An increasingly popular area of portrait
photography. If you're having a boudoir, lingerie or nude shoot, please don't wear tight fitting clothing or
underwear that will leave marks on the body. You can change into your outfits in the studio. This also avoids the
embarrassment of taking the No.5A bus wearing high heel boots and a pvc corset ;-)
PETS
We are happy to photograph your pets, or include them in
your family photos. If you want to bring your dog, please take it for
a long and arduous walk shortly before the shoot, and give it a good
bath just prior to the shoot. House trained animals only
please.
