Hello, I'm John, and I'd like to welcome you to my website. I hope you enjoy browsing through the pages, and most importantly I hope very much that you like my photographs.

I have a passion for photography. It's all I've ever wanted to do, & I've now been a full-time photographer since 1986. I'm sure you're looking at the sprightly figure on your left, and thinking I can't possibly be old enough, but I promise you it's true.

My early years were spent on cruisehips, capturing the elderly passengers in a truly remarkable variety of different poses. I had many happy years at sea, met lots of great people, and gained a lot from the many different countries & cultures I was lucky enough to experience. Eventually I tired of travelling the globe, (and constantly being told to 'Bug#er Off' by my less than enthusiastic elderly models) and I decided it was time to head for home and setup my own studio. I opened Columbia Photography in 1993, and there hasn't been a dull moment since.

Without doubt, taking photographs is the best part of the job. Interacting with people, creating something special, and seeing the expressions and emotions when a person views their images, it really is hugely rewarding. I enjoy all the other aspects of running a successful business, but nothing can replace the buzz of capturing priceless images of a two day old baby, or the privilege of recording one of the biggest moments in a persons life, their wedding.
