Henrietta & Ian’s wedding at Athelhampton House, Dorset

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Henrietta and Ian’s wedding at Athelhampton House, near Dorchester, Dorset.

Greenwood Grange

The day began at Greenwood Grange with Henrietta preparing for the day ahead. The room was large and luxurious, and full of pretty people making themselves prettier. I bumped into Caroline & Elke from Amazing Face, a rather fabulous hair and make-up team. Hen and all the ladies looked were looking lovely in no time (not difficult with such a beautiful gathering). In addition to looking lovely, Hen was also ready early (a punctual bride is a rare thing) so we had time for a few photos.  The weather God’s were kind, but there was a spot of rain so we stayed inside the apartment.

Athelhampton House

Next destination Athelhampton House and Gardens, the wedding venue. The Great Hall looked amazing with its roaring log fire, and while the guests were being seated the bride arrived in a gorgeous horse-drawn carriage. There was a slight delay while we waited for a late arrival, but eventually Henrietta could marry the man she loves. As the guests exited the Great Hall I arranged them into two lines, so we could give Hen and Ian a confetti filled welcome to married life. They could finally relax a bit more and enjoy the occasion.

Time for me to grab some candid photos before organizing the group photos. Shortly after I took the bride and groom for a stroll to the River Piddle, capturing some lovely shots en route. I think Hen & Ian enjoyed their time together meandering through the magnificent gardens.

The meal was due to start, so as the guests were seated I took the opportunity to photograph the happy couple by the beautiful Oriol window, superb! Food was followed first of all by speeches, then by dancing and general merriment. I blended into the background, and took shots of whatever unfolded. It was a great day’s work.

I hope you enjoy this small selection of photos. Everybody involved enjoyed the occasion immensely, and I had a fabulous time doing my favourite thing; photographing happy people.
